As I write this, we have just returned home from County Camp, the rucksack is unpacked and the first of the tents are beginning to dry out! We have had a brilliant time with the Brownies and Guides enjoying a wide range of activities from Bushcraft to Backwoods Cooking and Archery to Walking with more in between. We celebrated the Jubilee in style with horse drawn carriages complete with the Queen, parading through the site (you will need to ask someone who was there!) and our very own beacon. We had a visit from the Chief Executive Officer of Girlguiding and our own much-loved President and 3 Vice Presidents as well as a drive past by a Steam Train (yes a real full sized one)!
There is no doubt this was a brilliant event with all the Leaders of Girlguiding North Yorkshire South (both those bringing their units and those with a camp role) working together to provide a memorable experience for the girls. From the phenomenal catering team who turned out yummy food despite multiple special diets, a fire alarm and evacuation just as dinner was reaching a critical point, and a warming oven that didn’t want to release the food to knowledgeable and skilful instructors who ensured everyone was able to succeed. Arranging and overseeing all of this was Lesley who, despite all the weeks of hard work, was never seen without a smile, as if it had all happened by (Brownie) magic.
There is no doubt that this was a shining example of the best bit of Guiding and Guiding at its best. A huge thank you to everyone for making it happen.

York Active Support Quiz
YAS have prepared a quiz sheet to raise funds for the various members from York in the North Yorkshire contingent going to the 25th World Scout Jamboree, which will be held in South Korea in 2023. This is an exciting adventure for these young people and your support would be much appreciated.
Your completed quiz sheet can be sent to York Active Support by 30 June, these will be entered into a draw for a £30 prize. You don't need to answer all the questions correctly to be entered into the draw!

First response training
Spaces available on the blended First Response training course:
Monday 27 June 7.00-9.00pm module 1 NEE office
Monday 4 July 6.30-9.30pm modules 2 and 3 via ZOOM
If you need to complete the full training or just the practical skills element please contact Elizabeth for a place.
NB: there is a £5 charge for this training which is payable in advance and can be claimed as a legitimate unit cost.
Please note this is the last chance to do the training within the county until October.
