             County Commissioner welcome

Last Saturday we had a very successful county training day, the morning session included section training, help using GO, and admin advice for running a unit. The afternoon started with a talk about recruitment and giving a warm welcome to new volunteers by the Region Lead Volunteer for Growth and Retention. This was followed by information about the launch of the new Girlguiding North Yorkshire South web page. You can now book training events, order Silver and Bronze Programme Awards and check what events are coming up; please check it out.

We were joined by three Region Lead Volunteers and some of our County Advisors giving a display of their individual areas, introducing themselves to volunteers, explaining their role and providing advice and support. There was also the chance to try your hand at spoon carving, making a felted poppy brooch or a wool Christmas tree. The lovely ladies from York City Trefoil Guild provided us with refreshments. We would like to thank everyone who came to make the day such a success.

As we get into the new winter term we start to think about visits to the pantomime and winter residential weekends. We would like to thank all our amazing volunteers for the time you give to the girls and young women in your units. It’s not only the time you give to your weekly meetings but all the extra time making sure the experience of Girlguiding in NYS is the best it can be.

Thank you.
