             County Commissioner welcome

It's that time of year again! Just like Christmas, we all know that the Annual Subscription process starts each February, but somehow it creeps up on us. Please check your unit invoice to see if it correct (as at 2/2/23 a third of our units hadn’t viewed their invoice) and make any changes to GO that are necessary or, for your leadership team, contact your local commissioner. Each county has been given a small grant from HQ to support units who are unable to pay their full subscription bill. We have received £2,308.81 and we have 135 units so there isn’t a lot to go round but if you are concerned about paying the bill, please contact your local commissioner in the first instance. There may be additional help available from District, Division or County level in the form of a grant or a loan. Each case will be looked at individually so please be prepared to share details of your financial position with your commissioner.

Talking about financial matters, a gentle reminder that all unit, Districts and Division accounts must be Independently Reviewed and a copy of this declaration, together with the annual accounts statement and statement of assets and liabilities must be sent to the local commissioner no more than three months after the end of their financial year.  Finance policy | Girlguiding

If you are unable to do this, please contact your commissioner as this requirement falls within our Code of Conduct. Volunteer code of conduct | Girlguiding

And finally, there are lots of opportunities in this newsletter for both leaders and girls to get together, to learn, explore and enjoy. Please take time to read what is available, to look at our Events and Training Calendar and join in where you can. Lesley and I are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in the coming months come together as a county more than has recently been possible.

Adventure Day for Guides, Rangers and YLs (aged 14-18) at Bradley Wood Scout Campsite 29th April

We have an opportunity for 48 girls to enjoy a fantastic day of Climbing, Archery and Backwoods Cooking on Saturday 29th April. The cost will be £35 per girl including coach travel from The Designer Outlet.

Before we commit to this day, we need an indication of how many girls are interested and any leaders who would like to help support on the day. Please note that although it's not necessary for every unit leader to attend with their girls, we do need a minimum of 6 leaders to make this viable, and leaders will not be charged.

If you unit would like to participate or if you as a leader are interested, please send an email to
countysecretary@girlguidingnys.org.uk giving your units details and number of girls or if a leader just your details.

We need to receive all expressions of interest by Friday 24th February at the latest!!

Larkin Jamboree 2024

North Yorkshire Scouts are planning an International Jamboree in 2024. This will be held the 27th July to 3rd August 2024 at Duncombe Park, Helmsley. There is a website and leaders are encourages to sign up for updates, so they get information as it is released. We would love Guide and Ranger units to join us at the Jamboree for a week of fun and adventure. Brownies and Rainbows will also be able to join in the fun with their own programmes.

Adults also have the option to be part of the organising team or the service team at the event and if leaders would like to do that, then they can use the Volunteer button on the website - we would love to see lots of Girlguiding members help deliver this International Jamboree in 2024!
