             County Commissioner welcome

We wonder what you are planning or preparing for as the summer holidays beckon? Lesley is taking her Brownies to WYNCHES and Alison is going to Wellies and Wristbands with her Guides, so we know what it feels like to be juggling today’s tasks whilst planning for the future.

We are aiming to do this for our County Commissioner role and for other county roles that are about to reach the end of their terms of office. Those of you who have been volunteering with us for some time will know that, traditionally, people were approached and asked if they would like to take on a new role. Those days are long gone, thankfully, and the new way of inviting volunteers to express an interest in taking on a new opportunity is far more open and inclusive.

With this in mind the County Trustees have agreed that we should advertise for an Assistant County Commissioner to work alongside us for the next year with a view to taking over when our term of office ends in October 2024. This will not be a binding commitment but will allow the successful applicant to experience the role before agreeing (or not) to take this on when the time comes.

More details will be sent to you about this, and other county opportunities, over the summer holidays so please do take time to think whether this could be the next step in your Girlguiding journey. In the meantime, whatever you have got planned for the 6 week school holiday period, enjoy, take time for yourself and keep safe.

Happy holidays (when they come!)

Alison and Lesley
