Girlguiding North Yorkshire South

Welcome to the website of Girlguiding North Yorkshire South. We cover the Guiding needs of the southern part of North Yorkshire including the City of York and the towns and surrounding Districts of Selby and Tadcaster.

We may be small but we have over 3400 members including over 600 volunteers. Girlguiding NYS provides opportunties for all our members to make the most of their potentional, skills and to try something new. We support local districts to run events, we provide training and support for our volunteers and we continue to recruit and create new units to ensure every girl that wants to be a member of Girlguiding gets the chance.

The website is the core of our communications, it provides the details of forthcoming events and trainings. A little more detail on the local areas and the contacts, reports on past events and other events our members and supporters may enjoy.

We are very fortunate to own White Rose House at Wheldrake. It is a holiday house and venue for meetings and events. More information and booking details are available here.

So if you are an existing member of Girlguiding NYS or are interested in becoming a member, I hope you find what you need and we make you feel welcome.

Do you have local groups in the Selby area? If so how do you become a member?

  2. Hello,

My name is Emma Bracegirdle and I work for a York based charity called SASH. We work to prevent vulnerable 16-25 year old’s from facing homelessness across York, North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire. Despite us running for 22 years, not many people have actually heard of us and this is something that we would like to change.
For the past 12 months we have been building a team of Volunteer Speakers who have been trained to speak to groups about the work SASH does in our community. We would love to come and talk to your group about the work we do to help increase our presence in the community.

We can be very flexible on timings and are happy to travel.

    Best Wishes
