Latest edition – June 2024

Welcome to summer!

I am sure many of you will have started to plan your summer events and activities; this is my favourite term in Girlguiding. We had an amazing day at Williams Den with 335 Brownies and volunteers from across the county. The sun was shining (for a change) and there was sand and water and lots of wet, happy, smiling Brownies.  We had ice-creams, with far too many flavours to choose from; it all resulted in a very happy and successful day out.   Thank you to everyone who made it happen.

We are now looking forward to the Guide and Ranger camp at Murton Park 21-23 June 2024. 170 young people and volunteers will be camping out on the longest day of the year – 21 June.  We are hoping for a dry and sunny weekend. Look out for the photos on our social media.

A date for your diary for Rainbow Units – Sunday 1 December 2024.  The Santa Experience at Muton Park. Look out for more information in September. It was an amazing day last year – it even snowed for us!

On Saturday 1 June Girlguiding NYS had a stall at York Pride.  The Knavesmire was filled with so much joy, so much colour, so many positive people, young and old celebrating the diversity of our community. Our stand had lots of visitors, many had lovely comments about the place Girlguiding has in their local area, several said how pleased they are to see an organisation as old as Girlguiding moving forward to embrace the challenges faced by our young people.

Great job everyone.
